Below is a statement released by Gov. Terry McAuliffe following the signing into law of Del. Sullivan's Net Energy Metering legislation, HB 1950, on April 22, 2015.

Last night Speaker of the House William J. Howell named Delegate Sullivan to the House Finance Committee and the Agriculture, Chesapeake Bay, and Natural Resources Committee.

Delegate Sullivan introduced legislation today that would require Virginia electric and gas utilities to meet annual energy savings benchmarks beginning in 2016. The legislation directs the State Corporation Commission to develop incentives for utilities that exceed their annual energy savings goals and penalties for utilities that fail to comply.

Today, Delegate Rip Sullivan, for his first piece of legislation as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, introduced a bill that will help take the politics out of the redistricting process.  The legislation would require the General Assembly to use objective, well-defined and specific nonpartisan criteria in drawing Virginia’s state and congressional legislative districts.
