ARLINGTON, Va.: Local lawmakers representing the Reagan National Airport and Dulles International Airport areas today expressed their strong opposition to President Donald J. Trump’s proposal to sell these two critical national assets as a part of his infrastructure plan.

While the majority of gun control bills have already died during this year’s General Assembly session, a few are still alive.

While Virginia’s homicide rate has been on the decline over the past decade, the trend for suicides has been the exact opposite. In 2015, over 600 Virginians used a firearm to end their lives, compared with less than 300 homicide deaths by firearms that same year.

RICHMOND, Va. – At a press conference this morning, the Virginia House Democratic Caucus rolled out several of their key bills to help ensure all children, no matter who they are or where they’re from, receive access to a quality education.

Having won re-election without opposition, Dels. Mark Keam (D-35th) and Rip Sullivan (D-48th) are crafting legislation for the 2018 General Assembly session and both are encouraged by the parity – near or exact will be determined soon – that Democrats will enjoy in the House of Delegates.

“I’m an eternal optimist,” Keam said. “We’re in a good, positive position for collaboration. Republicans will have to work with us. It’s a way for us to collaborate to solve problems in way that’s not partisan, but gets things done.”
