McLean High School band program honored by General Assembly

The McLean High School Highlander Marching Band has been honored by the General Assembly for winning USBands Virginia State Championship last October.

The McLean band program – “Not All Heroes Wear Capes” – beat out a field of 16 schools from across the commonwealth.

The band program, with almost 200 members, also won awards for best music, best general effect and best visual.

“The McLean High School Highlander marching band’s state championship win is a testament to the skill and dedication of all its student-performers, the exemplary leadership of its directors, and the enthusiastic support of families, friends and the entire McLean High School community,” notes the resolution, patroned by Del. Rip Sullivan (D-48th) and approved by both houses of the legislature.
